Almost all alebrije carvers in Oaxaca use the wood of trees from the Copal,The alebrije is a Mexican craftsmanship somewhat surreal that can be made of cardboard, paper or wood with different techniques for modeling and creation. These can be in the form of zoomorphic animals or normal animals with the peculiar characteristic that they must contain very picturesque and striking colors in pure Mexican style. Some in its physiognomy can be constituted between a mixture of two or more animals or animals with plants, and even more, some of imaginary beings conceived from the most creative side and brought to reality in the form of these precious figures. Made in San Martin Tilcajete, Oaxaca; one of the most famous villages for the traditional wood carvings.
