The Wixarika (Huichol) people are internationally acclaimed for their artwork. This piece is adorned with symbology from their culture. Mayola Villa Lopez is the granddaughter of Jacinto Lopez Ramirez. He was an older Huichol shaman, considered to be the grandfather of the commercial bead art. That Jaguar Head measures 13" from the back of the head to the tip of his nose and is 9" from ear to ear.
